USB Hubs

A USB hub is a device that expands the available USB ports on a computer or any USB-compatible device. Its operation is straightforward: one USB port is connected to the computer, and the hub itself has multiple other ports to allow the simultaneous connection of several USB devices, such as printers, mice, keyboards, external hard drives, and other USB devices, to the computer.

USB hubs can offer a different number of USB ports depending on the size and purpose of the device. Additionally, the hub's speed is determined by which USB standard version it supports, such as USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or USB 3.1. Some USB hubs can also deliver power to connected devices, which is convenient for charging needs.

There are different types of USB hubs, such as self-powered and active hubs. Self-powered hubs include an amplifier that can boost the signal over longer distances, while active hubs typically require their power source. Small and portable USB hubs are convenient for travel, providing additional ports for laptops.

USB hubs enable the connection of multiple devices to the computer simultaneously, increasing the available number of ports. This is particularly useful when there are more USB devices than there are ports on the computer or when you want to easily switch and connect different devices without directly plugging them into the computer. USB hubs offer practical usability and flexibility in various usage scenarios.
