The Fractal Design Define 7 XL is a full-tower chassis engineered for extensive hardware configurations and high-capacity storage. Its interior is designed to accommodate large motherboards up to SSI-EEB and E-ATX formats, making it suitable for workstation and server-class builds. The case features a modular layout that can be adapted for either maximum storage capacity or an open configuration for advanced cooling systems. Industrial-grade sound-damping material is applied to the front, top, and side panels to reduce operational noise.

Cooling potential is a primary focus, with support for radiators up to 480 mm in the front or top positions, and up to 280 mm at the bottom. The chassis includes three pre-installed 140 mm Dynamic X2 GP-14 fans to facilitate airflow out of the box. For component installation, the case provides ample clearances for CPU coolers up to 185 mm in height and power supplies up to 250 mm in length. The front I/O panel includes a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, multiple USB Type-A ports, and audio jacks for peripheral connectivity.
