The NETGEAR WAX610Y is a dual-band outdoor wireless access point using the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard. It offers a maximum combined speed of 1800 Mbit/s: 600 Mbit/s on the 2.4 GHz band and 1200 Mbit/s on the 5 GHz band. Designed for high-density outdoor settings like courtyards and building perimeters, the unit supports up to 250 concurrent devices. It uses MU-MIMO technology to manage data transmission to multiple clients simultaneously, while OFDM and OFDMA modulation optimise bandwidth across both frequency bands.

Wired connectivity is provided by a single RJ45 port supporting Multi-Gig Ethernet speeds of 100, 1000, and 2500 Mbit/s. Power is supplied via PoE+, with a typical consumption of 16.1 W, removing the need for a separate AC connection at the installation site. The device is designed for versatile mounting on walls, poles, or ceilings. Security features include WPA3, alongside enterprise-grade EAP-TLS and EAP-PEAP authentication. Administrators can manage the device via a web-based interface, which includes support for tagged VLANs, guest access, and Quality of Service (QoS) controls for traffic prioritisation.
