The TP-Link TL-WPA8631P AV1300 Gigabit Passthrough Powerline AC Wi-Fi Extender uses a building’s existing electrical wiring to transmit data. This adapter functions as both a wired bridge and a wireless access point, using the HomePlug AV2 standard. It offers a rated data transfer rate of 300 Mbit/s over the powerline at distances of up to 300 metres. Three Gigabit Ethernet ports are built into the unit for connecting multiple devices, and a pass-through power socket ensures the wall outlet remains available for other appliances. The dual-band Wi-Fi supports 802.11ac to improve wireless coverage in areas with weak router signals.

Installation is a plug-and-play process that requires no manual configuration. LED indicators on the front panel show the status of the powerline, Ethernet, and wireless connections. The device supports 128-bit AES encryption via WPA2-PSK and WEP. The use of internal antennas keeps the wall-plug unit compact.
