The DEWALT 18V XR Brushless Cordless Hammer Drill with 2 × 5.0 Ah Batteries is a battery-powered hammer drill for drilling, hammer drilling and screwdriving. The 18 V system supplies up to 70 N·m of torque in hard applications. It is intended for construction, installation, maintenance and DIY tasks. Maximum drilling diameter is 40 mm in wood, 13 mm in steel and 13 mm in concrete. These ratings cover hole-making work across timber, metal and masonry. Cordless operation avoids the reach limitations of a mains lead.

The compact pistol-grip format is intended for confined spaces, while soft-grip surfaces support handling. Its 1.5–13 mm keyless chuck accepts a broad bit-shank range and requires no chuck key. Variable-speed control and the integrated LED work light assist with controlled operation in dim areas. The kit contains two removable 5.0 Ah lithium-ion batteries, a charger and a carrying case. Having two batteries allows one to be exchanged while the other is on charge.
