Makita DUH523RF 18V LXT Cordless Hedge Trimmer, 520 mm, 3.0 Ah Battery and Charger

The Makita 18V LXT Cordless Hedge Trimmer with a 520 mm blade, 3.0 Ah battery and charger is intended for routine maintenance of medium-sized hedges, shrubs and ornamental bushes. Its cordless format removes the need for a mains cable when moving along fence lines or around planting beds. With a 520 mm cutting length, 15 mm tooth spacing and 15 mm maximum branch capacity, the double-sided reciprocating blade is suited to thinner stems and new growth. The straight blade runs at 1,350 strokes per minute, supporting steady shaping passes rather than heavy branch removal.

At 3.3 kg with the battery fitted, the trimmer is designed for portable garden use. An ergonomic handle and low-vibration system support control during longer trimming sessions. The 18V 3.0 Ah lithium-ion battery provides up to 75 minutes of operating time, and a full recharge takes approximately one hour. Both the removable battery and charger are supplied with the tool.

The removable battery is compatible with the Makita LXT 18V system, allowing suitable packs to be exchanged between compatible tools. Battery protection helps guard against over-discharge, overheating and overload, while a battery-level indicator shows the remaining charge during use. Rated sound pressure is 77 dB and sound power is 84.3 dB, providing useful figures for comparing operating noise with other hedge trimmers.

• Electric safety brake stops the blade quickly after operation.
• Safety switch helps prevent unintended activation.
• Safety lock provides additional control against accidental starting.
