Makita Hook-and-Loop Sanding Discs are replacement abrasives for orbital sanders, intended for surface sanding and initial preparation. The coarse grit is designed for controlled material removal rather than fine finishing. It is suitable for stripping old finishes and levelling uneven areas before subsequent work. The specified working surfaces include wood, metal, and paint, so the discs are not limited to timber. On painted items, the abrasive can remove an existing finish or prepare the surface for further treatment.

The backing attaches directly to a compatible sanding plate, avoiding the need for a separate clamping mechanism. Disc changes are straightforward when moving between workpieces or replacing used discs. Perforations through each sheet support dust collection when aligned with the machine’s extraction path. This arrangement helps reduce dust accumulation on the work surface during sanding.
