This StarTech.com USB 2.0 extender converts a local USB 2.0 Type-A connection into an RJ45 Ethernet link. This allows you to place peripherals beyond the distance limits of standard cables. Using standard Cat5e or Cat6 cabling, the unit supports distances of up to 150 metres while maintaining full protocol bandwidth. Connected devices operate at up to 480 Mbit/s, which is suitable for remote scanners, cameras, and control equipment.
The system is plug-and-play and requires no drivers. As it is not USB-powered, the remote receiver uses an included external AC adapter to power connected peripherals. Both the local and remote units feature metal housings to withstand wear in industrial or commercial environments. The hardware is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
