The QNAP TS-855EU-8G is an 8-bay rackmount storage device designed for small-to-medium business environments. Its 2U short-depth chassis allows for installation in shallow rack cabinets where space is limited. An Intel Atom C5125 8-core processor running at 2.8 GHz handles centralized file sharing and virtualization workloads. The system includes 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, expandable to 64 GB via two memory slots. Eight hot-swappable drive bays support 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or solid-state drives. Two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports provide network connectivity with data rates of up to 2500 Mbit/s.

Running the QuTS hero h5.0.1 operating system, the unit uses a ZFS-based file system to ensure data integrity via snapshots. Users can configure storage across RAID levels 5, 10, 50, and 60, with support for online expansion. Active cooling is provided by three 60 mm fans, and the built-in 250 W power supply has a typical power consumption of 79.113 W. Data security includes hardware-accelerated encryption compliant with AES and FIPS 140 standards.
