The ASUS 4G-AX56 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 modem router that provides internet access via 4G LTE networks using an integrated NanoSIM slot. It operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, reaching a maximum wireless data rate of 1201 Mbit/s. Support for LTE-FDD and UMTS 3G ensures compatibility with a range of mobile carrier frequencies. Using the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard, the device manages local network traffic. It is suitable for locations without fixed-line broadband, or as a secondary backup connection.

Wired connectivity is provided by five Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports for devices such as desktop computers and gaming consoles. A dedicated Ethernet WAN port allows for use with standard cable or fibre modems. Four antennas, featuring a mix of internal and external designs, handle signal reception across the coverage area. Security features include an integrated firewall with support for IPSec and SIPS protocols, as well as built-in VPN client and server modes using L2TP, OpenVPN, and PPTP. Front-facing LED indicators display the status of power, WAN, and LAN activity.
