The Nothing Ear (a) earbuds are equipped with 11 mm dynamic drivers and support the LDAC codec, enabling the playback of high-resolution audio over a Bluetooth 5.3 connection. The design incorporates a Smart Adaptive Noise Cancellation system that automatically assesses ambient sound and adjusts the level of noise reduction accordingly. This active technology complements the passive noise isolation provided by the in-ear fit. Users can further tailor the audio output through a customizable equalizer available in the companion Nothing X application for both iOS and Android.

The total listening time is rated for up to 42.5 hours with the included charging case. A fast-charging feature provides extended playback time after a 10-minute charge via the USB-C port. Each earbud weighs 4.8 grams and features an IP54 rating for resistance to dust and water splashes from any direction. On-stem pinch controls are used for managing playback and calls, while a three-microphone array with a noise-canceling algorithm is utilized for voice clarity. The Nothing X app also enables direct voice access to ChatGPT.
