The Synology DS423+ is a 4-bay desktop network-attached storage (NAS) system for home offices. It features an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor (2 GHz, with a 2.7 GHz burst frequency) and 2 GB of DDR4 memory. Four internal bays accommodate 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA hard drives and solid-state drives. Users manage storage volumes through the DiskStation Manager web interface and can configure data redundancy using RAID 5, 6, 10, or JBOD. The unit centralises data backups and media sharing across local networks.

Networking is handled by two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Support for SMB, NFS, and AFP ensures compatibility across different operating systems. Two 92 mm rear fans regulate internal temperatures, while two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports allow for the connection of external drives or peripherals. The front-loading drive bays support hot-swapping, allowing drives to be replaced without shutting down the system.
