The Epson EB-685Wi is an ultra-short-throw interactive projector for classrooms. Using 3LCD technology, it produces 3,500 ANSI lumens, ensuring visibility in rooms with standard ambient light. It provides a native WXGA resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio. With a throw ratio of 0.28–0.37:1, the projector displays images between 60 and 100 inches from a distance of 0.4 to 0.6 metres. This positioning reduces glare and shadows cast by the presenter. The projector supports dual-pen annotation, allowing two users to write or draw on the display simultaneously.

The device connects to audiovisual systems via various inputs. These include three HDMI ports, two VGA inputs, and two USB 2.0 slots. Network management and content streaming are handled via wired Ethernet or built-in Wi-Fi. Alignment features include manual focus and horizontal and vertical keystone correction of ±3 degrees. A 1.35x digital zoom helps align the image with screen boundaries. The chassis is suitable for table or ceiling mounting. An integrated 16 W speaker provides sound for standard meeting or classroom spaces.
