The Synology DiskStation DS223j 16TB is a two-bay desktop NAS pre-configured with 16 TB of SATA HDD capacity. It is designed for file management in home offices. A Realtek RTD1619B 1.7 GHz quad-core processor handles multi-protocol file access, while the drives can be configured in RAID 0, RAID 1, or JBOD modes to balance data redundancy and storage capacity. The unit includes 1 GB of DDR4 memory for background services like snapshot replication and file indexing, and it features a 1 Gbit/s Ethernet port for network connectivity.

The hardware is housed in a white chassis with a single 92 mm cooling fan. Operating at 18.2 dB, the system is suitable for quiet workspaces. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports on the rear allow for external storage expansion.
