The Synology RackStation RS1221RP+ is a 2U rackmount NAS featuring 8 drive bays pre-populated with 64 TB of HAT33 storage, designed for small and medium-sized businesses. An AMD Ryzen Embedded V1500B 2.2 GHz quad-core processor manages file services and multi-user data tasks. The system includes 4 GB of DDR4 ECC memory to detect and correct single-bit errors. Connectivity is provided by four Gigabit Ethernet ports, which support link aggregation and failover. The system runs on the DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, which handles cross-platform file sharing and block storage.

For hardware resilience, the unit features hot-swappable drive bays and redundant power supplies. The RS1221RP+ includes a PCIe Gen 3 x8 slot, allowing for the installation of 10GbE network cards or M.2 NVMe SSDs for cache acceleration.
