The RAINPOINT ICS044L Wired Rain Sensor for Irrigation Systems regulates automatic garden irrigation based on local rainfall. It detects precipitation and temporarily suspends the connected irrigation controller to avoid unnecessary watering. The sensor has four selectable rainfall thresholds, so it can be set to match local weather conditions and different plant needs. By pausing irrigation during and after rain, it helps keep soil moisture at a reasonable level without constant manual adjustment.

The sensor uses hygroscopic discs that swell when wet and trigger the shut-off. As the discs dry out, the system returns to its normal schedule automatically. It connects to a compatible controller via the appropriate terminals. The housing is designed for permanent outdoor use so that it can monitor actual local conditions.
