Web cameras
A webcam, or web camera, is a digital device that records and transmits images or video to a computer or other network-connected devices. These cameras are widely used for video calls, online meetings, livestreaming, and also offer the possibility to take photos or record videos.
Web cameras are used in a wide range of fields, including teleworking, distance learning and online content production. Most webcams connect to a computer via a USB interface, and many models also include a built-in microphone, making them a complete solution for video calls and meetings. Image quality varies from model to model, and high-quality webcams can provide sharp images and high-resolution video. They can be attached to monitors or computers using a variety of mounting systems, and many offer automatic focus and exposure. In addition, modern models emphasise privacy features such as a physical shutter or an indicator light to show when the camera is active. Webcams are an essential part of digital communication, enabling users to communicate, create content and participate in virtual events.
Webcams for online meetings
Teams, Zoom and other video conferencing are more successful with a good and high quality webcam.
Image quality matters
There are mainly Full HD webcams on the market, but there are a few options with 4K resolution. With a Full HD camera, you can do quite well in online meetings. We therefore recommend higher resolution cameras for those who do not want to compromise on image quality.
Certain webcams also have a built-in shooting light, which greatly improves image quality conditions. So remember to have enough lighting if no built-in light is found!
Built-in Microphone
Most cameras also have a built-in microphone, which is almost always better than a laptop's own microphone, for example. So with a device of enough quality, you solve two different potential problems: picture quality and sound quality!
