The Fractal Design Node 304 is a compact Mini-ITX chassis designed for systems requiring a small physical footprint, such as home theater PCs or file servers. Its exterior features a minimalist design with a solid aluminum front panel and measures 250 x 210 x 374 mm. The internal layout is modular, allowing for significant customization to accommodate different hardware configurations. Three Silent Series R2 fans are pre-installed—two 92 mm intake fans at the front and one 140 mm exhaust fan at the rear—to provide direct airflow over internal components.

A primary feature of the Node 304 is its storage flexibility, with three modular hard drive mounting brackets that each support two 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives. These brackets can be removed individually to create space for longer graphics cards or to improve airflow from the front intake fans. The case supports standard ATX power supplies up to 160 mm in length and CPU coolers with a maximum height of 165 mm. A three-speed fan controller is included to manage the speed of the stock fans for thermal performance or low-noise operation.
