The TP-LINK TL-MR3420 is a 300 Mbps Wireless N 3G/4G router that shares mobile broadband connections across a local network. Operating on the 2.4 GHz band, it supports data transfer rates of up to 300 Mbit/s. As the device lacks a built-in SIM card slot, it requires a compatible external USB modem for cellular connectivity. It is compatible with LTE, HSPA+, and UMTS standards, allowing it to work with various mobile networks. It is suited for locations without fixed-line broadband or for temporary internet setups.

Wired connections are provided by four 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports and one Ethernet WAN port for broadband failover.
