DJI Phantom 3 ND4 Filter

The DJI Phantom 3 ND4 Filter is a camera lens filter made for the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced and Phantom 3 Professional. Its ND4 rating cuts the light entering the camera by two stops, letting through roughly one-quarter of the unfiltered light. It is intended for managing exposure when the aircraft is operating in bright outdoor conditions, providing an optical way to limit light before exposure is adjusted through the camera’s shutter speed or aperture.

Because the filter reduces light optically, less reliance is placed on faster shutter speeds or narrower apertures in strong daylight. The operator can therefore keep the settings chosen for the intended rendering of movement, within the camera’s available controls. In motion sequences, this can support more natural-looking blur rather than the crisper look associated with a faster shutter. The reduced light level can also help produce smoother, more controlled results when ambient brightness would otherwise dictate exposure settings.
