StarTech.com ET91000LC2 - Fiber media converter, Black

The StarTech.com ET91000LC2 Gigabit Fibre Media Converter connects copper cabling to fibre infrastructure. This standalone unit features one RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port and one LC fibre optic connector. It extends data transmission beyond the limits of standard copper, supporting a maximum link distance of 550 metres. Operating on an 850 nm wavelength, the converter is designed for multimode fibre connections and supports a 1000 Mbit/s data rate between equipment rooms.

The unit uses a plug-and-play design, requiring no software configuration. It supports VLAN tagging, allowing administrators to integrate it into segmented networks. Automatic MDI/MDI-X detection removes the need for crossover cables when connecting to network switches. The device is powered via a 12 V DC-in jack and consumes approximately 4 watts. The black housing weighs 620 grams and is designed for stable placement on a desk or shelf.
