Fits to the front of the EF-S 35mm Macro IS STM, reducing ‘flare’ caused by light shining directly on to the front of the lens. It helps prevent stray light from entering the lens to keep unwanted glare from affecting your photographs. When used with the EF-S 35mm Macro IS STM, it prevents reflections of the Macro Lite on the front of the lens from reflective surfaces.
