The Delock 42594 is a compact external enclosure specifically designed for M.2 SATA SSDs. It accommodates storage modules in 2242 and 2230 form factors with Key B or Key B+M interfaces. Connection to the host computer is established through a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Micro-B port, supporting a maximum data transfer rate of 5 Gbit/s. The unit features an aluminum and plastic housing that measures 50 x 93 x 13 mm, making it suitable for portable storage applications.

A primary technical feature of this enclosure is the integrated AES-256 hardware encryption managed via the Initio INIC3607 chipset. Users configure security settings and partition protection directly through physical buttons on the device, which operates independently of host-side software. The enclosure is USB bus-powered and features LED indicators for monitoring power and access status. It supports plug-and-play and hot-swapping functionality for Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and Linux systems running Kernel 4.10.3 or higher.
