The MikroTik wAP R is a 2.4 GHz access point designed for various environments. It uses the Wi-Fi 4 standard, providing a maximum wireless data rate of 300 Mbit/s. A key feature is the integrated miniPCI-e slot and SIM card slot for optional mobile LTE connectivity. The device functions as a standard access point via Ethernet or as a mobile gateway with the addition of a cellular card. Its weatherproof housing makes it suitable for outdoor or industrial use.

Wired connectivity is provided via a 10/100 Ethernet port supporting PoE-in. The unit includes 64 MB of memory and can be powered via a DC jack or a 4-pin automotive connector.
