The QNAP QSW-M408-4C is a managed Layer 2 desktop switch designed to provide connectivity and traffic management for small networks. This non-PoE unit features eight Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports and four 10GbE SFP+ combo ports, supporting both copper devices and fiber uplinks. With a switching capacity of 96 Gbit/s, it handles simultaneous data transfers across all interfaces. The 10G uplinks allow administrators to connect NAS systems or servers to a high-speed backbone, while the switch manages local traffic using a 16,000-entry MAC address table.

Housed in a white desktop chassis, the device is intended for placement on flat surfaces rather than rack mounting. Administrators can configure settings via a web-based interface or the dedicated RJ-45 console port. The software includes features for traffic segregation, such as port-based and private VLANs, Quality of Service (QoS), and Access Control List (ACL) rules. It also supports protocols like IGMP snooping and spanning tree to maintain an organized network topology.
