The Synology DiskStation DS420+ is a 4-bay desktop NAS designed for centralised data management in homes and small offices. It holds up to four 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drives, providing a central location for files, photos, and media. An Intel Celeron dual-core processor handles internal operations, including storage management and access control. The unit comes with 2 GB of DDR4 RAM as standard, with an available slot for memory expansion. It supports various RAID levels for data protection, ensuring files remain accessible even if a drive fails. As an always-on server, it allows users to access shared folders locally or remotely.

The black desktop chassis houses two 92 mm fans for cooling the internal components and drives. Two RJ-45 ports at the rear support standard wired LAN connections and advanced networking.
