The Sony HT-S20R 5.1-channel home theatre system replaces standard television speakers with a multi-channel setup. It comprises a main unit, two rear speakers, and an active subwoofer. With 400 W RMS output, the system provides directional audio for film dialogue and ambient effects. The unit decodes Dolby Digital and Dolby Dual Mono formats directly from the source. Listeners can choose from Auto, Cinema, Music, or Standard sound profiles to suit different media, and a Night mode compresses the dynamic range to limit sudden volume spikes during evening viewing. The subwoofer connects to the main bar via a cable to ensure stable low-frequency performance.

The system connects to your television via an HDMI ARC port. For displays without ARC capabilities, an optical audio input is provided on the rear panel. You can also stream media from mobile devices using the integrated Bluetooth 5.0 receiver. The system does not feature Wi-Fi or Ethernet and functions independently of home networks. HDMI CEC and BRAVIA Sync protocols allow for volume and power control through the television interface. The components have a black finish and are designed for placement on flat surfaces; wall-mounting hardware is not included.
