The StarTech.com USB 3.2 Gen 1 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (USB31000SW, white) adds a dedicated RJ-45 port to PCs and laptops that lack built-in wired connectivity. Connecting via a standard USB-A interface, this adapter provides a stable, wired network connection. It supports data transfer rates of up to 1000 Mbit/s. As the unit functions strictly as a wired bridge, it does not support Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. An internal ASIX AX88179A chipset manages the connection for cables up to 100 metres in length.
The device is powered directly via the USB bus, so no external power supply is required. Housed in white plastic, the unit weighs 27 grams to minimise strain on the host port. Integrated LED indicators display network link status and activity. The plug-and-play design allows for immediate use without the need for manual driver installation. The adapter is compatible with Windows 7 through 11, macOS 10.6 and later, Linux, and ChromeOS, with support for Windows Server editions to assist in enterprise network management.
