This unmanaged network switch is a plug-and-play device designed to expand wired local area networks. The Zyxel MG-105 is a 5-port 2.5G desktop switch featuring five RJ45 interfaces for multi-gigabit traffic. Each port supports data speeds up to 2.5 Gbit/s, suitable for high-bandwidth devices such as network-attached storage or modern access points. The switch auto-negotiates connections, allowing legacy 100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps hardware to operate alongside newer equipment. Users can simply plug in their hardware to establish a connection, as no management software is required. This makes the 5-port model a practical choice for environments that need efficient internal data routing.
The device features a steel-coloured, desktop-friendly chassis measuring 160 x 110 x 26 mm. Weighing 460 g, it remains stable on the desk even with several Ethernet cables connected. The switch operates without a cooling fan, making it suitable for quiet offices or home environments. LED indicators on the front panel display link activity and connection status for quick monitoring. The unit can also be wall-mounted to keep cables tidy and save desk space. With a maximum power consumption of 9.34 W, the switch remains energy-efficient during continuous use.
Key Features:- 25 Gbit/s switching capacity and an 18.6 Mpps forwarding rate ensure non-blocking data throughput across all connected equipment.
- Support for 12,000-byte jumbo frames reduces packet processing overhead during large file transfers.
- Auto-MDI/MDIX functionality removes the need for crossover cables by automatically detecting the connection type.
- 16,000-entry MAC address table supports numerous endpoints on a busy local network.
- Quality of Service (QoS) prioritises critical data traffic to maintain stability during high network loads.
- 12 MB packet buffer memory temporarily stores incoming data to prevent packet loss during transmission bursts.
