The Cisco Catalyst 9124AXE-E Outdoor Wi‑Fi 6 Access Point uses external antennas to extend enterprise wireless coverage into outdoor environments. It operates on the IEEE 802.11ax standard to support high-bandwidth traffic across campuses, industrial sites, and building perimeters. The hardware is IP66/IP67 rated for protection against dust and water ingress, allowing it to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. External antennas enable network administrators to tune the wireless coverage area based on the specific deployment site. Two RJ-45 Ethernet ports provide the primary connection to the network infrastructure.

The access point is powered via standard Power over Ethernet (PoE), removing the need for separate outdoor electrical wiring. The chassis measures 259 × 233 × 81 mm and weighs 3,100 g.
