The DEWALT DCP580NT-XJ 18V XR Brushless Cordless Planer Body Only planes, levels and sizes wooden surfaces without a mains cable. Its 82 mm cutting width handles standard timber sections in one pass. The motor has a rated input of 1,050 W for material removal across the cutter width. A dual-blade cutter runs at up to 15,000 rpm. The maximum planing depth is 2 mm per pass, allowing controlled reduction of uneven or oversized stock. Typical applications include fitting doors, trimming timber edges and correcting uneven boards.

The brushless motor avoids the wear components used in brushed motor designs. Power comes from removable 18V XR lithium-ion batteries. No battery is supplied with this body-only configuration, so a compatible pack is required before use. A charger is also excluded from the package. This format is therefore most relevant to users who already own tools on the compatible DEWALT battery platform.
