Makita, DHS661ZU, 18 V, 165 mm Circular Saw

The Makita DHS661ZU 18V Brushless Cordless Circular Saw is a battery-powered tool designed for wood cutting, including cross-cutting, rip-cutting, and bevel cutting. It runs on an 18V lithium-ion battery and reaches a maximum no-load speed of 5,000 RPM from its brushless motor. With a 165 mm blade (20 mm bore), it cuts to a depth of 57 mm at 90° and 41 mm at 45°. It is suited to wood substrates such as framing lumber and sheet goods. This is the body-only version, so the battery and charger are not included and must be purchased separately.

Weighing 2,900 g and measuring 270 mm in length, the saw is compact enough for both flat and overhead work. The bevel adjustment allows angled cuts up to 50°, which is useful for joinery and finish work. A soft-grip handle reduces fatigue during longer sessions, and the soft-start function limits initial torque for better control when starting a cut. Both a dust blower and a dust extraction port are built in to keep the line of sight and the workspace clear. The saw is compatible with the Makita AWS Bluetooth system, which can start a connected vacuum automatically when the saw is switched on. One blade is included, so work can begin straight away. Kickback protection, overload protection, and a built-in LED light for dim conditions round off the safety features.
