The GARDENA THS 42/18V P4A Solo Cordless Telescopic Hedge Trimmer is intended for maintaining tall hedges and ground-cover plants. Its 420 mm double blade has 16 mm tooth spacing and a rated maximum cutting thickness of 16 mm. This cutting capacity suits routine shaping where branches stay within the stated limit. An adjustable cutting head changes the trimming angle for hedge sides, tops, and low-growing areas. The telescopic format extends access beyond the reach of a conventional fixed-length trimmer.

The trimmer uses the 18 V POWER FOR ALL ALLIANCE rechargeable lithium-ion battery system. A battery is not supplied with this Solo version, and the charger is also excluded from the package. This arrangement is relevant to buyers who already own a compatible battery or plan to source both components separately. The telescopic shaft provides height adjustment rather than restricting the machine to one fixed working length.
