The Synology RackStation RS422+ is a 4-bay 1U rackmount NAS designed for home offices and small businesses. It features four drive bays compatible with 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and solid-state drives. The unit is powered by an AMD Ryzen R1600 dual-core processor with a 2.6 GHz base frequency. System reliability is supported by 2 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, which detects and corrects data errors. Connectivity includes two 1000 Mbit/s Ethernet ports for network redundancy, and the system runs the DiskStation Manager 7.1 operating system.

The 1U enclosure is 44 mm high, making it suitable for compact rack environments. Three 40 mm fans manage internal temperatures, producing a noise level of 28.5 dB. The hot-swappable drive bays allow for the replacement of storage media without system downtime. Users can configure storage in RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, or JBOD to balance performance and data protection. Support for the BTRFS file system enables snapshot technology for point-in-time data recovery, and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port is available for external peripherals.
