Makita DUX18ZX1 18V LXT Cordless Garden Multi-Tool Power Unit (Body Only) is a battery-powered drive unit for trimming, cutting and general garden maintenance when fitted with a compatible attachment. It is not a complete hedge trimmer and therefore has no fixed cutting length, tooth spacing or branch capacity. Its cordless format removes the restriction of a mains lead when working around gardens and landscaped areas. An interchangeable attachment system allows the power unit to support different outdoor maintenance tasks. For hedge work, cutting performance is determined by the compatible head selected.

A brushless motor provides efficient operation with fewer serviceable motor components than a brushed design. Two electronic speed ranges allow the output to be set for different attachments and workloads. Variable speed control provides further adjustment within the selected range. An electronic brake helps bring the tool to a stop when the control is released. Together, these controls allow the operating speed to be matched more closely to the attachment and material being worked on.

The round handle is height-adjustable, allowing its position to be altered for control and working posture. At 983 mm long, the power unit has an extended form suited to standing garden tasks. It is compatible with Makita 18V LXT rechargeable batteries. The battery is sold separately, making this configuration most relevant to existing LXT system users. A charger is also not included, and a compatible gardening or landscaping attachment is required before use.
