StarTech.com PEX8S1050 - Serial Adapter Card, Yellow

The StarTech.com 8-port PCI Express RS-232 serial adapter card is an internal expansion card designed to add serial connectivity to desktop PCs and servers. It connects to the motherboard via a standard PCI Express slot to provide eight independent RS-232 ports for industrial hardware, scanners, or point-of-sale equipment. As a dedicated serial controller, the adapter manages local hardware connections and does not support network connectivity, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Each port supports a maximum data transfer rate of 921.6 kbit/s, suitable for telemetry and device control.

The card features a yellow printed circuit board in a standard full-profile form factor. Measuring 120 mm by 105 mm, the unit fits into a standard expansion slot. It is compatible with various IT and industrial environments and supports Linux, as well as Windows versions from Windows 98SE through to Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022. This software support allows IT administrators to integrate legacy equipment into modern systems without replacing existing RS-232 infrastructure.
