The Shelly EM Wi-Fi Energy Meter with contactor control is a two-channel device for tracking household electricity consumption and solar power generation. It connects directly to a 2.4 GHz network without needing a separate smart hub. The unit integrates with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control within existing smart home setups. Users can monitor two independent circuits simultaneously to review real-time usage or access up to 365 days of energy history. A built-in contactor control function allows for automated switching to manage connected appliances.

The meter operates on a standard 110–240 V input and consumes 1 W during typical use. The compact housing fits into standard electrical backboxes alongside existing wiring. Users can program schedules using built-in weekly timers or sunrise and sunset triggers. Support for MQTT, CoAP, and REST API protocols allows for local connection to custom home automation platforms. An integrated temperature sensor provides protection against overheating; note that the hardware does not include built-in overload protection.
