The Fractal Design Terra is a small form factor chassis with a 10.4-liter volume, engineered specifically for Mini-ITX motherboards. Its construction utilizes thick, anodized aluminum panels for the main body and a front accent piece machined from solid walnut. This material choice provides a rigid structure and a clean exterior appearance. The design omits a side window, opting instead for ventilated solid panels that integrate with the overall minimalist aesthetic.

The internal layout is defined by a stepless, adjustable central spine, which allows builders to allocate interior space between the CPU and GPU compartments. This flexibility enables support for graphics cards up to 322 mm long within three expansion slots. Power is supplied by an SFX or SFX-L form factor PSU, and a PCIe 4.0 riser cable is included for the vertical GPU orientation. Cooling is addressed with a bottom mount for a single 120 mm fan or a corresponding radiator, supplemented by ventilation on the top and side panels.
