The Bosch GBH 5-40 DCE SDS Max Rotary Hammer is an AC-powered tool designed for drilling into concrete and stone, as well as light chiselling. It uses an SDS Max chuck system for secure bit retention. Operators can adjust the speed to suit the substrate. Dedicated modes handle standard drilling, hammer drilling, and chiselling. A reverse function safely backs out jammed bits from solid masonry. No drill bits are included; standard SDS Max accessories are required.

The tool measures 485 mm in depth and 260 mm in height, and weighs 6800 g, giving it useful mass for downward drilling pressure. An auxiliary handle is included for stability and two-handed control. Electrical safety is provided by Class II double insulation. A carrying case is supplied for storage and transport, and an operating manual guides correct setup.
