The Makita DG001GZ05 40V XGT Earth Auger (Body Only) is a cordless tool designed for drilling holes directly into soil. It is used for fence post installation, planting, and routine landscaping work. A built-in brushless motor delivers consistent rotational force and removes the maintenance associated with carbon brushes. Running on the 40V battery platform, the auger produces up to 136 N·m of maximum torque in demanding applications, allowing the operator to drive compatible bits through compacted ground.

Control over the 8.1 kg frame is provided by an auxiliary side handle and a rubberised soft grip. The operator can adjust the drilling approach with the variable speed trigger and use the reverse function to free jammed accessories. An integrated work light illuminates the immediate drilling area for better visibility in shaded conditions. This package is supplied as a bare tool only, so a Makita XGT battery and charger must be purchased separately. Auger bits are not included, letting the buyer choose the exact diameters needed for the job.
