The Ubiquiti UniFi Express (UX) is a desktop network controller that combines a router and a Wi-Fi 6 access point in one device. It uses the 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) standard across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to support wireless clients. The device supports up to 60 simultaneous connections, making it suitable for home or small office environments. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports handle primary WAN and LAN traffic. An internal 2x2 MIMO and MU-MIMO antenna system manages multiple wireless data streams. The device is backwards compatible with older standards from 802.11a to Wi-Fi 5, while prioritising the efficiency of the latest protocols.

You manage the UniFi Express via the UniFi Network platform, which allows you to configure and monitor settings through a web-based interface. A dual-core 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 processor and 1024 MB of RAM power the system’s routing and control tasks. Security features include support for IPSec, WPA3, and various VPN protocols, including WireGuard, OpenVPN, and L2TP. Integrated VLAN support, Quality of Service (QoS), and Network Address Translation (NAT) enable precise traffic segmentation and prioritisation. A 0.96-inch LCM display on the front panel provides real-time status updates without requiring access to the software dashboard. The desktop unit is housed in white polycarbonate and consumes a maximum of 10 W during operation.
