The Fractal Design Mood is a Mini-ITX chassis featuring a vertical, pillar-style design intended for a minimal desk footprint. The enclosure is constructed with a breathable fabric exterior, providing a different aesthetic from typical steel or aluminum cases. It measures 212 x 453 x 212 mm, making it suitable for compact builds where space and integration with a home environment are primary factors. The design focuses on a clean and unobtrusive look while maintaining functional airflow for internal components.

Internally, the case is built for a Mini-ITX motherboard and includes a PCIe 4.0 riser cable to accommodate a graphics card in its two expansion slots. It supports SFX and SFX-L power supplies with a maximum length of 130 mm. For air cooling, CPU coolers are limited to a maximum height of 114 mm, a critical dimension for selecting compatible hardware. Storage capacity includes one 3.5-inch drive bay and mounts for two 2.5-inch drives, accessible within the main chamber.

The thermal management system is based on vertical airflow, driven by a pre-installed 180 mm fan at the top of the chassis. For additional cooling, the front panel can house a radiator up to 280 mm for liquid cooling setups, or two 120 mm or 140 mm fans. The front I/O panel, located at the top, provides access to two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB-C port, and a combination audio jack. Dust filtration is also integrated to help keep internal components clean.
