The Synology DiskStation DS423 is a 4-bay NAS designed for home and small office use. It manages centralised file sharing and data protection over a local network connection. The unit features four drive bays for 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drives. A 1.7 GHz quad-core Realtek RTD1619B processor handles shared folders and system services, supported by 2 GB of DDR4 memory for concurrent tasks such as file indexing. The drive bays are supplied empty, requiring the installation of compatible storage drives.

For network connectivity, the DS423 includes two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Physical expansion is available through two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for external devices.
