The Cisco Wireless 9178I is an indoor access point based on the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard, operating across three frequency bands. The device uses the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz spectra to achieve a maximum combined data transfer rate of 24,000 Mbit/s. Its 4-radio architecture manages data traffic in high-density environments, while integrated MU-MIMO and beamforming technologies handle signal distribution as client demand increases. This model is compatible with legacy hardware, supporting standards from 802.11a through 802.11ax.

Wired connectivity includes two RJ-45 Ethernet ports supporting data rates up to 10,000 Mbit/s. Power is supplied via Power over Ethernet (PoE) using the UPOE standard, which delivers power and data through a single cable. The unit includes a USB 2.0 port and 4,096 MB of internal memory. Security features include EAP, WPA2, and WPA3 protocols for enterprise authentication. The chassis, which houses six internal antennas for tri-band operation, can be mounted on walls or ceilings.
