The TP-Link M8550 5G Mobile Wi-Fi creates a private wireless network by converting cellular 5G, 4G, or 3G signals. It uses a Nano-SIM card to provide a wide-area network connection to local devices. The router supports Wi-Fi 6E and operates on the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Using the 802.11ax protocol, it achieves maximum wireless data transfer rates of 2880 Mbit/s. Wireless security is handled via WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK encryption. This device serves as a primary internet source in locations without fixed broadband infrastructure.

The unit includes a 4680 mAh lithium battery for use away from power outlets, with recharging via a USB-C port on the side of the chassis.
