The ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh router built for demanding wireless networks. It operates across three bands—one 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz channels—to manage traffic between connected devices. Using the 802.11ax standard and 1024-QAM modulation, the system reaches a maximum combined wireless throughput of 6600 Mbit/s. Six internal antennas provide signal coverage, and the router is backwards compatible with earlier Wi-Fi standards (802.11a through 802.11ac) to support older devices.

Wired connections consist of one RJ-45 WAN port and three Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for 1000 Mbit/s transfers. A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port allows for peripheral support. Security features include WPA2-Enterprise and WPA-PSK encryption, an integrated firewall, and guest access options. Users can manage the network via a web interface to configure Quality of Service (QoS) settings and URL filtering. The system supports VPN protocols including IPSec, PPTP, and OpenVPN, and contains 512 MB of internal memory.
