The StarTech.com I13P-SERIAL-ETHERNET 1-port serial-to-Ethernet adapter connects RS-232 serial devices to standard IP networks. This external device server enables equipment such as barcode scanners, point-of-sale peripherals, and industrial controllers to communicate over a local area network. It features an RS-232 (DB9) port for connecting legacy hardware. Network access is provided via a Fast Ethernet RJ45 port supporting 10/100 Mbps, while serial data transfer rates reach up to 921.6 kbps to suit standard industrial requirements.
A black metal enclosure protects the unit’s internal components in demanding environments. The unit supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing it to be powered via the network cable, which simplifies installation in locations without nearby power outlets. A standard DC-in jack is also included as an alternative power source. LEDs indicate power, PoE status, Ethernet activity, and serial transmission. The device is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS, and Linux.
