The StarTech.com I43-SERIAL-ETHERNET 4-port RS-232 to Ethernet device server connects legacy serial equipment to modern IP networks. This adapter connects up to four DB-9 serial peripherals to a 10/100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet LAN. Administrators can access industrial sensors, barcode scanners, or point-of-sale hardware remotely, removing the need for local serial connections. Data is routed via a standard RJ-45 interface. The server features a metal housing and supports wall or DIN-rail mounting for installation in racks or industrial settings. It requires a direct DC power connection and is not USB-powered, with a typical power draw of 15 W. Front-facing LEDs indicate power status, network activity, and serial transmission. Configuration is managed via a web-based interface compatible with macOS and Linux; virtual COM port software is available for Windows 10 and 11 to facilitate system integration.
