The BenQ W5800 is a standard throw projector that uses DLP technology to deliver a native 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160. It is equipped with a laser light source that provides 2600 ANSI lumens of brightness and has a service life of up to 20,000 hours in normal operation. The optical system is designed to achieve a 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and it supports multiple High Dynamic Range formats, including HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. The projector is calibrated to cover the DCI-P3 color space, intended for accurate color reproduction in a home cinema environment.

For installation flexibility, the W5800 features a motorized 1.6x optical zoom and motorized focus. It incorporates a 2D lens shift mechanism, providing a vertical adjustment range of ±21% and a horizontal range of ±50%, which allows for image alignment without digital distortion. This system accommodates various room sizes and projector placements, including desktop and ceiling-mounted setups, with a throw ratio of 1.52 to 2.45. It can project an image up to 200 inches in size, depending on the distance from the screen.

Connectivity inputs include two HDMI 2.0b ports that support HDCP, three USB 2.0 ports, and an Ethernet LAN port. The projector does not have integrated speakers but supports eARC for audio passthrough to external sound systems.
