The StarTech 2GPD3-USB-C-ETHERNET adapter adds a 2.5GbE wired network port to laptops and servers that lack a built-in RJ-45 connector. It converts a USB-C host interface to an NBase-T copper network connection via USB 3.2 Gen 1, supporting data transfer rates of up to 2500 Mbit/s. This 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection handles large file transfers and high network traffic more effectively than standard 1GbE. An integrated 100W Power Delivery port allows the host computer to charge while maintaining a stable wired connection.

The adapter is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux, including Windows Server. It uses the Realtek RTL8156BG chipset to manage networking tasks, supporting IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging for network segmentation and Wake-on-LAN for remote machine access. The device is powered directly by the USB connection, eliminating the need for an external power supply. Its 0.15-metre cable is attached to the housing, providing flexibility without cluttering a workspace.
